Driven by an innate love of adventure, Erik Boomer has established himself as one of the most accomplished white-water kayakers of his generation. He is particularly renowned for his willingness to seek out the most hostile terrains on the planet, from Antarctica to the Arctic. In 2011, he became the first person to circumnavigate Ellesmere Island, on a 104-day ski and sea kayak expedition. Since he has embarked on anther 8 multi month expeditions, paddling, kite-skiing, dog sledding, and climbing. Boomer has been the featured athlete in several acclaimed films.
Erik Boomer specializes in adventure photography and film in the most hostile environments, from Tajikistan, to Antarctica, to the Canadian Arctic. His photography work has appeared in, among others: National Geographic Magazine, the New York Times, Outside Magazine and twice a finalist for the Red Bull Illume Competition.
More recently expanding into film, Erik has co-directed A Baffin Vacation, A Baffin Vacation, Love on Ice and Way of the North.
